1. About This Policy
This Policy supplements our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information generally, and forms part of our Terms of Use. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given in the Terms of Use.
We have written this Policy to describe what we actually do, and we keep it accurate. If we add a technology, we will update this Policy before we deploy it.
2. What Cookies and Similar Technologies Are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. When you return, the browser sends the file back, which allows the site to recognize your session and remember your settings.
Similar technologies include: local storage and session storage, which store data in your browser rather than in a cookie file; software development kits, which perform equivalent functions inside a mobile application; pixels and web beacons, which are tiny embedded images or scripts that report that a page or message was loaded; and device or browser identifiers.
A first-party technology is set by us. A third-party technology is set by a provider whose code runs on our pages. A session cookie is deleted when you close your browser. A persistent cookie survives until it expires or you delete it. In this Policy we use “cookies” to mean all of these technologies.
3. Why We Use Cookies
We use cookies to do a small number of necessary things: to keep you signed in securely as you move between pages; to remember your preferences, such as your time zone and notification settings; to protect your Account and our Service from fraud, abuse, and automated attack; to keep the Service running reliably; and to understand, in aggregate, which features are used and where the Service is failing, so that we can fix it.
That is the entire list. We do not use cookies to build a profile of you, to follow you around the internet, or to sell anything to you or to anyone else.
4. The Categories of Cookies We Use
4.1 Strictly necessary cookies (always active)
These are required for the Service to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They include: an authentication and session cookie that keeps you signed in and ends your session when you sign out; a security cookie used for cross-site request forgery protection; a load-balancing cookie that routes your request to a healthy server; a cookie that records your cookie preferences so we do not ask you again; and cookies set by our payment processor during checkout to complete and secure your transaction. Legal basis and duration: necessary to provide the Service you requested; session or up to twelve (12) months.
4.2 Functional cookies
These remember choices you make so that the Service behaves the way you expect, for example your time zone, display preferences, and whether you have dismissed a notice. Turning them off will not break the Service but will make it less convenient. Duration: up to twelve (12) months.
4.3 Analytics and error-monitoring cookies
These help us understand, in aggregate, how the Service is used and when it fails: which pages are visited, which features are used, how long a page takes to load, and what error occurred. We use this to fix faults and to decide what to build. Our analytics are configured for privacy: they are first-party, they do not receive the content of your Care Profiles, care notes, documents, wellness check-ins, or AI interactions, IP addresses are truncated or not stored where the provider supports it, and the data is not used for advertising and is not disclosed to any advertising network. Duration: up to thirteen (13) months. You may decline these.
4.4 What we do not use
We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, social media tracking pixels, advertising software development kits, or any cross-context behavioral tracking technology, anywhere on the Service. We do not permit any third party to collect information about your activity on the Service over time and across other websites or applications.
In particular, no advertising or analytics technology of any kind runs on the signed-in areas of the Service where medications, care notes, documents, emergency information, wellness check-ins, or the AI Features are used, other than the strictly necessary and error-monitoring technologies described above. This is a deliberate design decision and we intend to keep it.
5. Cookies and Consumer Health Data
Information about a person’s health, or about their seeking of health care services, may be consumer health data under the laws of Washington, Nevada, and Connecticut, and sensitive personal information under the laws of California and other states.
We do not collect consumer health data through cookies, we do not use cookies to infer health status, and we do not disclose consumer health data to any third party through a pixel, tag, or software development kit. We do not sell consumer health data, and we will not do so without your separate, valid, written authorization, which we will never make a condition of using the Service.
We do not use geofencing of any kind. We do not establish a virtual boundary around any health care facility, pharmacy, or provider location, and we do not use location to identify or track anyone seeking health care services or to send any message or advertisement.

6. Third-Party Providers
A small number of our providers set or read cookies in order to deliver the service we have engaged them for. Each is contractually restricted to processing information on our instructions and is prohibited from using it for its own purposes, including advertising or model training. The categories are:
- Hosting, content delivery, and security, for routing, performance, and protection against attack;
- Payment processing, during checkout only, to complete and secure your transaction and to detect payment fraud;
- Product analytics and error monitoring, as described at Section 4.3; and
- Customer support tooling, where you contact us through the Service.
The current identity of these providers, and of our other material sub-processors, is published on our sub-processor page, which we update before we add a new one. Where a provider sets a cookie, its own privacy notice will also apply to that cookie, and we link to it from the sub-processor page.
We do not embed third-party advertising, social media, or marketing scripts. Where our public marketing pages embed a video player or a similar third-party component, we will identify it on the sub-processor page and configure it so that it does not set a cookie until you choose to interact with it.
7. How Long Cookies Last
Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies last for the periods stated in Section 4, and in no case longer than thirteen (13) months from the date they are set or refreshed. You may delete any cookie at any time using your browser controls, described in Section 8.
8. How to Control Cookies
8.1 Our controls
Where required, we present a cookie notice on your first visit that allows you to accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie preferences link in the footer of the Service or in your Account settings. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be declined, because the Service cannot function without them; if you block them, you will not be able to sign in.
8.2 Browser controls
Every major browser allows you to view, block, and delete cookies, and to block third-party cookies entirely. The relevant instructions are found in the settings or preferences menu of Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Edge, under a heading such as “Privacy” or “Cookies and site data”. Blocking all cookies will prevent the Service from working.
8.3 Global Privacy Control and opt-out preference signals
We honor the Global Privacy Control and other recognized opt-out preference signals as a valid request to opt out of the sale and sharing of personal information, in the browser or device in which we receive the signal. As explained in Section 4.4, we do not sell or share personal information in any event, so the signal changes nothing about how we treat you. We honor it regardless.
8.4 Do Not Track
There is no consensus industry standard for responding to a browser “Do Not Track” signal, and we do not respond to it. We do not track you across other websites whether or not you send one.
9. Mobile Applications
When we release iOS or Android applications, they will use equivalent local storage and identifiers for the same strictly necessary, functional, and error-monitoring purposes described in this Policy, and will be subject to the same prohibition on advertising and cross-context behavioral tracking. Where the operating system requires a permission prompt, including any prompt to track across apps and websites owned by other companies, we will not request that permission, because we do not do that.
10. Changes to This Policy, and Contact
We will update this Policy when our use of these technologies changes, and we will do so before the change takes effect. Material changes will be notified through the Service or by email, and the “Last Updated” date at the head of this Policy will be revised.
